A Special Thanksgiving Gift

Today I received a beautiful Thanksgiving card and letter in the mail.

It was hand which was made into a turkey with colorful feathers.

Inside it read:

This isn't just a turkey,
As anyone can see.
I made it with my little hands,
Which is a part of me.
It comes with lots of love
Especially to say,
I am so very thankful for you and
For every single day!

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Love,
Olivia

Then there was a handwritten letter included inside, it read:

Dear Mom,

I think your the best. I love it when you make me a nice warm dinner when it is winter time. Other times in the winter you help me get ready to play in the snow at school, to soccer, and the ice skating rink. I think I should let you take a day off. I love you so much when you let me stay up late and watch TV. I hope you enjooy Thanksgiving day! Remember when we went to PA as a family? I love you because you also keep me safe every day from danger.

I hope you like my message.

Love,

Olivia

Becoming A Mom 7 Years Ago!

I had just given up on waiting for the phone call and walked out of my office, when the phone rang. I ran back in to answer and the voice on the other end, said congratulations you have a baby girl. Her name is Cen Rui and she is from the Heng Feng Institute in Jiangxi Province. Her birthday is 3/23/02. We will send you a picture and you will receive the information in Fedex tomorrow. Where should we send it?

Whoa Whoa Whoa, wait a minute, I just became a mom.

I couldn't believe it. After waiting 2 years!

The next morning, I was so anxious to receive the fedex package. I was so afraid to see what she looked liked. I opened the envelope and took a peek at her picture for the very first time. All my co-workers and friends were around me, including mom.

Once opened, I shared the pictures with everyone. Everyone was so excited to finally see her as I spoke about for nearly two years. I studied every inch of the pictures. Her eyes, her little nose, her cheekbone structure and her eyebrows. I knew every inch of her as if she was sitting right in front of me. Right after work I went to CVS and made copies of her pictures and put them in frames all over my house, as if she was already with me.

Now my beautiful girl is in 2nd grade and will be turning 8 years old in March, boy how time flies. But it is always nice to remember this day especially at Thanksgiving time.

Falling For Fall...

Mourning The Loss Of "Baby"

Today we are mourning the loss of Lexi's baby.

While in China, Lexi searched for something to attach herself to. I brought alot of cuddly animals and blankies for this purpose, but none would satisfy her. The closest was rubbing the sheets in the bed. On our return from China, my mom found in her gift draw, this yellow teddy bear dressed as a pumpkin blankie, Lexi took to her right away. This was Lexi's baby. Baby went with her whereever she went, it was full of her smells and germs. She would spit in it, blow her nose in it and cuddle it all night while sucking her thumb. We could hardly get it away from her to wash it.

We are all part of watching out for baby and we have some back ups just in case. But, today at Walmart, the day finally came when we lost her. I went back and searched twice and my parents drove all the way back with Lexi to look for it as well. Baby is no where to be found.

Lexi is devasted. I brougt her to the store to pick out a new one, but she cries for "old" baby. I feel so bad for her and it makes me cry thinking about her loss. Such a simple loss, but of great importance for her.

Here are some of the more recents pics of her with her baby.

Trick or Treat

We had a blast on Halloween night, two hours of trick or treating.

Lexi's Bruiser

Lexi had a few days of falling and getting some big boo boos. Here are a few pictures of her latest.
