Chinese New Year 2010

Happy Chinese New Year! Our China Mom group got together (minus Kristen, Karen & Brynn) to celebrate Chinese New Year. We also figured out that we have known each other now for 10 years! We couldn't believe how fast time is flying.

This is a pic of the yummy cake from the Chinese bakery. Inside also has a layer of cream and fresh fruit.
Me and my girls made fried rice with the help of Laura's freshly cut carrots.

Here I am deep frying the wontons.

Ellen, Anna, Laura and Mary all helped with this yummy stir fry.

Here are my yummy fried wontons.

Mary helps herself to some of Fawn and Skylar's lomein.

The girls made beautiful rings made out of pipe cleaners.

The girls dipped fortune cookies into chocolate and sprinkled them with candy.

We also celebrated Laura's birthday, Happy Birthday Laura!

The girls make their chinese lanterns.

What a great time and we can't wait to do it again next year!

A Few Hours At The Aquarium

The girls (Nana, Me, Olivia, Lexi, Fawn & Skylar) enjoyed a few hours at the Aquarium during school vacation. We got in for free and only had to pay for parking and lunch, which makes the day even better.

Lexi loves the penguins!

The girls pose with the penguin.

The seal swims in to give Olivia a kiss through the glass.

A pretty pose near the harbor.

Care Packages For The Troops

The girls and I, along with some Girl Scouts enjoyed a few hours helping pack up care packages for the troops. Olivia was amazed that these packages are sent overseas and said that she would love to be a soldier who gets a package full of goodies!

The organization's website is www.helpingourtroopsma.org and they get together once a month in Stoneham for a packing party.

Happy Chinese New Year! This year it is the year of the Tiger! We enjoyed dinner out at our favorite local Chinese Restaurant, Royal Dynasty.

Nana acts silly with the girls umbrellas from their drinks.

A big smile from my toothless Olivia

Hurry up and get a piece of pineapple, because Lexi eats it all.
Some desserts from the chinese bakery. Although yummy, not quite as sweet as our bakery items.
Olivia and Nana enjoys the pastries.

Happy Gotcha Day Olivia!

Seven years ago on Feb 10, I held my little girl for the first time. I was a nervous wreck after just flying half way around the world. As I walked down the hall of the hotel, I could hear the babies. I walked straight into the room and saw this picture! There was my little girl I waited so long for. She was holding a toy and had a little Tweetie Bird purse over her shoulder.

Here I am holding her for the very first time! I wonder what she was thinking looking at me. I know what I was thinking. NOW WHAT???

This was Olivia on Valentine's day with her favorite duck. It would sing a song, with a chinese dialect. Five little ducks went out one day, over the hills and far away, the five little ducks said Quack, Quack, Quack, only four little ducks came back....

Olivia was such a happy baby, always smiling and giggling. I was such a lucky mom to have her as my daughter. Seven years later, she is blossoming into a young girl, still giggling and acting silly but now doing it with her mom and sis.
Love you Olivia!!!

Mommy Goes Back to Work!

Here is a pic of Mommy on her first day of work at the animal hospital. We miss her at night and look forward to her days off.

Sledding in The Snow

The girls having a blast sledding down the hill and garden out front, off of the rock wall and into the driveway.

Making Paper

The girls got a paper making science project for Christmas, so we decided to try it out.

Step 1: Tear newspaper and soak it for two hours.

Step 2: Spin the soaked newspaper, to extract the pulp.

Step 3: Sift the pulp in water to spread it out evenly.

Step 4: Our final product, lay out to completely dry for 4 hours.

Final step: Have your grandfather think it is a bunch of junk and throw it out on you.
That is right! We never got to use the paper, Papa threw it out. Four hours later we went looking for it and it was gone! So, we will need to try this again when mommy has patience!

Our New Years Eve Party

Our New Years Eve Party this year consisted of my great idea to have a sleepover on the living room floor. Olivia and Lexi gathered all the pillows from around the house and we put our sleeping bags on them. I tucked my fat adult body into a kids sleeping bag and got stuck. The floor was pretty uncomfortable as well. We watched wild hogs and fell asleep by 11pm. All for calling the New Year in. We completely missed it!
