A Day At The Franklin Park Zoo

Yesterday after a morning of showings in Southie, Fawn, Skylar and me and the kids ventured back to Dorchester (a kind of rough area of Boston) to the Franklin Park Zoo. Neither of us have been to this sister zoo of the Stone Zoo, but thought it would be nice for a change. And boy we were surprised it is a very nice zoo.

We entered via the Zebra entrance (there are two entrances to the park) and a train that once you get to the other end of the zoo for $1 will bring you back to your entrance (what a great deal and saved my sort feet). I think I need some bigger feet now that I have gained all this weight!

Look at these crazy animals that greeted us when we entered to zoo!

Anyways, the girls had a fabulous time, seeing all the Lions, Tigers and Bears. There is also a farm petting zoo (not many animals though). Here is a cute picture of the goat that we nicknamed PAPA.

Here is a picture of all of us inside the Butterfly Landing.

We saw some very sleepy tigers and lions and then made our way to the Tropical Forest where the gorillas and other animals are. This area is very nicely designed, with waterfalls and bridges, very pretty inside.

Outside the Tropical Forest area they are shooting a new movie, The ZooKeeper. So there was a full movie set, no filming on the weekends though.

We also saw a baby giraffe and a baby lemur, how cute!

Then, we took the train ride back to our entrance and braved the rough neighborhood to come home.

If you have never been to the Franklin Park Zoo, I highly recommend it. It was a great time.
